ALATIS celebrates the World Intellectual Property Day on April, 26th 2017

In order to promote exchanges on the role of Intellectual Property in creativity and innovation, the World Intellectual Property Day is celebrated every year on April, 26th.

Journée mondiale de la propriété intellectuelle

What is INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY?

The term “intellectual property” refers to works of the mind: inventions, literary and artistic works, designs and emblems, names and images used in trade.

Intellectual property is protected by law, for example, by means of patents, copyrights and trademark registrations, which enable creators to derive recognition or financial benefit from their inventions or creations. By appropriately reconciling the interests of innovators and the general public, the IP system aims to foster an environment conducive to the development of creativity and innovation.

Le terme « propriété intellectuelle » désigne les œuvres de l’esprit : inventions, œuvres littéraires et artistiques, dessins, modèles, et emblèmes, noms et images utilisés dans le commerce.

What is the WORLD INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY ORGANIZATION?

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is the United Nations agency dedicated to the use of intellectual property (patents, copyright, trademarks, industrial designs, etc.) for the economic, social and cultural development of all countries.

2017 Creativity – the next generation

This year, the theme of “innovation for a better life” was chosen.

How does innovation make our lives healthier, safer and more comfortable, starting from a problem to progress?

How does the intellectual property system promote innovation?

How does it promote investment, reward creators, encourage them to develop their ideas and ensure that new knowledge is freely available, so that innovators of tomorrow can benefit of today’s new technology?

It’s your turn!

How innovation has improved your life? What can be done to ensure that new technologies reach the people who need them? In your opinion, what should be tomorrow’s innovation priorities?
