
Cécile BARRIO
Trademarks & Designs Attorney
Cécile Barrio began her professional career as an IP lawyer by joining in 1989 a law firm specialized in Industrial Property Law. After obtaining her Master’s in Law, she graduated from the Center for International Intellectual Property Studies (CEIPI) in 1996, and in 1997 officially became Industrial Property Attorney, Trademarks, Designs & Models.
In 2000, she seized the opportunity offered by the European Commission by accepting the challenge of creating a new industrial property title: The European Community Design.
She was responsible for drafting the Implementing Regulation and the Regulation fees of that new legal system.
After the worldwide launch of this IP title she became a member and rapporteur of the EUIPO legal unit. Her mission consisted in investigating invalidity legal cases of European Community Designs.
In March 2010, Cécile Barrio joined a firm specializing in industrial and intellectual property law as Senior Industrial Property Attorney, in charge of various legal aspects (contracts, trademarks, designs and models and copyrights).
In addition to her activity as an Industrial Property Attorney, she was a trainer within several training institutions in IP law, innovation, and ecodesign.
When the firm was acquired, she joined an internationally recognized industrial and intellectual property law firm.
In early 2015, as she is passionate about Management of Innovation and Industrial and Intellectual Property (MIPI) and with her solid knowledge in assisting business entrepreneurs and legal departments, she founded IP STREAM, an IP law firm.
At the same time, Cécile Barrio teaches industrial property law within the Management of SMEs and Entrepreneurship Master’s program at Nanterre University as well as at ISEFAC (digital and commercial law).
At the end of 2017, Cécile Barrio was appointed by the Prefect of the “Ile de France” Region as a member of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (CESER): https://www.ceser-iledefrance.fr/. She is a member of the Commission for European Affairs and International Action.
Cecile Barrio is an active member of several professional organizations :

• CNCPI (French Professional Association of Industrial Property Attorneys)
• Commission Innovation de la CPME (French National Confederation of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises)
• Président of the DPO Committee of Data Protection Officers (GDPR) for SGS since 2020
