{"id":2853,"date":"2019-06-07T11:46:22","date_gmt":"2019-06-07T09:46:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/alatis.eu\/?p=2853"},"modified":"2019-06-07T11:46:22","modified_gmt":"2019-06-07T09:46:22","slug":"swissness-brands-can-affirm-true-swiss-identity-for-product-service","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alatis.eu\/en\/swissness-brands-can-affirm-true-swiss-identity-for-product-service\/","title":{"rendered":"Swissness and brands: how can you affirm a true Swiss identity for a product or service?"},"content":{"rendered":"<section  class='av_textblock_section av-av_textblock-0366cc7376be6c9e82a3e9cc8987b64f '   itemscope=\"itemscope\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/BlogPosting\" itemprop=\"blogPost\" ><div class='avia_textblock'  itemprop=\"text\" ><h1><b>Swissness and brands: how can you affirm a true Swiss identity for a product or service?<\/b><\/h1>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2688 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/alatis.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/swissness-1.jpg?resize=812%2C522\" alt=\"Swissness and brands: how can you affirm a true Swiss identity for a product or service?\" width=\"812\" height=\"522\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>Part One<\/h2>\n<p>The new \u201cSwissness\u201d legislation<a href=\"#_ftn1\" name=\"_ftnref1\">[1]<\/a> has been written to protect and promote the \u201cSwiss\u201d label for brands.\u00a0 This includes the \u201cSwiss made\u201d label and the use of a visible \u201cSwiss Cross\u201d on their products and services. To achieve this objective, certain clear new rules have been established to govern the use of \u201cSwiss made\u201d, and four categories have been created. In this first part, we will look at industrial and natural products.<\/p>\n<p>In order to use the \u201cSwiss made\u201d label for industrial products, 60% of the production costs (including research and development costs) must have been incurred in Switzerland. Next, an essential part of the production process must be completed in Switzerland. For cosmetics in particular, a decree<a href=\"#_ftn2\" name=\"_ftnref2\">[2]<\/a>\u00a0 has stated that the bulk manufacture of the product and its primary packaging must be completed in Switzerland; the ingredients may come from abroad, provided that the production cost conditions are met. As such, Cosmesens(R), a new brand of face and body care products, can use their Swiss geographic origin on their products and place the Swiss Cross on their brand.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, for natural products, the Swissness criteria varies according to the type of product. For mineral products or water, for example, the extraction site is the determining factor, while it is the harvest location for plant products.
