Aurélien HUISMAN

French &  French & European Patent Attorney – Representative before the Unified Patent Court (UPC).

 Aurélien HUISMAN holds an engineering degree from the École Supérieure de Physique et de Chimie Industrielles de la Ville de Paris (ESPCI) and a master’s degree in materials science from Imperial College London. He also holds the International Studies Diploma in Intellectual Property with a specialization in “invention patents” from the Center for International Intellectual Property Studies (CEIPI) and graduated from the University of Strasbourg in “Patent Litigation in Europe”. Aurélien is combining a dual expertise in science and law.
Aurélien HUISMAN began his career in the field of industrial property in 2006 as a patent engineer at renowned consulting firms in Paris. In 2012, he founded NOVITECH, a firm specializing in invention patents, before joining the multidisciplinary international network ALATIS at the end of 2024.
In addition to his activity as a Patent Attorney, Aurélien HUISMAN is a regular lecturer in the accelerated CEIPI program and the training program of the French Association of Industrial Property Specialists (ASPI).
His expertise caters to a diverse clientele: start-ups, SMEs, and multinational companies operating in various sectors such as electronics, automotive, computer-implemented inventions, optics, medical devices, materials, civil engineering, green technologies, office equipment, industrial processes, packaging, cosmetics, perfumery, robotics, electrical engineering, home automation, and more.
Aurélien HUISMAN handles all aspects related to patent law in France, Europe, and internationally, including:
Acquisition of rights: Developing protection strategies, patentability analyses, drafting patent applications, and managing procedures in various legal frameworks.
Exploitation of rights: Negotiating and drafting contracts (assignments, licenses, research partnerships, co-development) at both national and global levels.
Defense of rights: Managing complex litigation, including oppositions (before the EPO and INPI), infringement or validity disputes, as well as issues related to employee inventions.
Strategic support: Establishing internal monitoring procedures, identifying and declaring inventions, managing employee inventor compensation, with a vision that incorporates international intellectual property challenges.
